Starting Your Journey: Keflavik Airport

Your Icelandic adventure begins at Keflavik Airport, the primary gateway for international travelers. Keflavik is about a 45-minute drive from Reykjavík, the capital city. It’s worth noting that Icelandair often offers stopover deals, letting you explore Iceland for a few days without additional airfare – a win for those on a budget!

Travel Tip: Use public transportation shuttles like Flybus to get to Reykjavík from the airport. It’s cheaper than a taxi and just as efficient.

Stay Smart: City Hub Reykjavík – The Perfect Capsule Hotel

Let’s talk about where to stay. City Hub Reykjavík is a game-changer. This trendy capsule hotel combines affordability with style and convenience. Each pod offers a cozy, private space with modern amenities. Plus, you’ll hardly be spending much time in your room anyway – Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes await!

The communal spaces at City Hub are perfect for mingling with fellow travelers, sharing tips, and planning excursions. Bonus points for its central location, which makes exploring Reykjavík super easy.

The Best Time to See the Northern Lights in Iceland

One of Iceland’s biggest draws is the elusive northern lights. The best time to see the northern lights in Iceland is from September to April, when the nights are longest. Plan to venture out of the city to avoid light pollution. Join a guided tour or, if you’re driving, head to spots like Thingvellir National Park or Grotta Lighthouse.

How to get from Keflavik Airport to your hotel

Most people take the Flybus or the Airport Express bus from KEF to the city. Much "cheaper" than a taxi. They have a bus service after every arriving flight and a Bus is scheduled to depart 35 to 45 minutes after every arrival. It will take you from the airport to a bus station in Reykjavik you then change on to a different bus line depending where your hotel is, its really easy!
