Check the flights and snap up an amazing flight deal to Cape Town QUICK!
Flights will be three flights a week from London Gatwick to Cape Town, they start October 28 2024.
I had the privilege of visiting Cape Town several times while working as long-haul cabin crew with Virgin Atlantic, and it truly is an incredible destination! From the iconic Table Mountain to the charming penguins at Boulders Beach, the city offers top-notch restaurants and extraordinary culinary adventures at a fraction of London prices. My favorite part was exploring the Stellenbosch wine region, hmmm I wonder why?
How long is the flight from London to Cape Town?
OK, this is a long flight! around 11 hours 30 minutes! Cape Town to London is usually a little longer, an average of 11 hours 45 minutes!
The beauty of this flight though, is that the time difference is just 1 hour ahead so you don't experience jet lag!
Norse Atlantic Airways operate 787 aircraft, this aircraft type filters air differently through the cabin, meaning more fresh air rather than recycled air like on some aircraft types, you feel better getting off a 787. Trust me I used to operate long flights on different aircraft types and flying on the 787 I always felt significantly better getting off the jet after a long flight!
You might see a lot of carriers if your searching booking sites for flights from the UK to South Africa, however airlines such as Emirates, Qatar, Etihad even the very competitive Ethiopian airlines will all have stop overs and stop in the Middle East or West Africa significantly increasing your flight time to South Africa from the UK. Norse Atlantic airways will fly direct between London and Cape Town.

Travel Tips Flying Norse Atlantic
You need to take a blanket, this is a low cost airline, with the flight out being an overnight flight pack your self a travel pillow and blanket.
This one is great I got mine from Cabin Max via Amazon, it is super soft and folds up neatly and is super easy to carry around you can even clip it onto your bag.
Take snacks, meals onboard are between £15 to £30! So yes take plenty of snacks.
Drink the right water! you need to drink water high in alkaline, so you absorb it better, this is a loooooong 12 hour long haul flight between London and CapeTown. Or electrolytes will be very beneficial!
Travel light, linen is your friend! Smart casual wear, some restaurants are quite formal,
Baggage fees on Norse are expensive, so travel light!
When is the best time to travel to South Africa?
South Africas summer months are December to March, the shoulder month of late October to November are great times as its not too hot so you can enjoy activities such as Table Mountain and the wine region, its also not as busy and hotels are cheaper due to less demand. In April the weather can be hit or miss!
