Mykonos Hotel and Accommodation Guide

One of the biggest, prettiest and trendiest tourist destinations in Greece, Mykonos attracts cruisers, partiers, and members of the LGBTQ+ community due to its vibrant super cool vibe. It is the most expensive island Greece, but it’s tough to resist with its winding streets, small alleys lined with whitewashed houses overlooking beautiful harbour's iconic old windmills, beautiful beaches, amazing restaurants, and out of control nightlife!

Which area is best to stay in Mykonos?

Ok So the main are centre around the capital Mykonos town in the north of the island or the main beach areas in the south,

Or if you want to be in between both in a lovely stunning greek bay than maybe Ornos is for you!

  • Psarou Beach- super chic, glamorous and lively!

  • Agios Ioannis Beach

  • Elia Beach

  • Platys Gialos Beach

  • Ornos

Is Mykonos cheap to visit?

Definitely not! Mykonos is a very expensive island,

Ten minute Uber ride will be around €25

Sunbed on a beach for the day around €50

It’s an energetic island, especially in the summer months of July and August when it’s bursting to the seams with visitors. Prices skyrocket during this time!

How many days do you need in Mykonos?

Hmm that really is subjective, for myself 4 or 5 days here is enough, but could I spend 2 weeks on mykonos? Hell yes! The ideal duration would be to island hop with Tinos, Paros or Santorini for over a week to 10 days.

Is 10 days too long in Mykonos? NO

Paradise beach camping If you want a cheap good value stay right next to the clubs this is the place to stay! very accessible as there are buses to Mykonos Town and the airport, its right in the action on Paradise Beach.

It reminded me of butlins or Pontins a real old fashioned holiday village vibe.

No airconditioning and take plenty of bug spray! if you don’t mind basic non luxurious facilities then this is the accommodation for you.

Set in the heart of the cosmopolitan Mykonos Town, MyCocoon hostel features an outdoor bar with sun terrace and views of the sea. It is within 300 m of Mykonos Old Port.

MID RANGE accommodation in Mykonos

Mykonos Beach Ok so I booked and stayed here in June with booking.com it seemed quite a good location, not to far from Mykonos Town and indeed it was only around a 10 minute walk past shops and cafe bars. So a great location on its own little stretch of beach which was great for a little walk in the morning to feel the sand in your toes!

Rooms were basic and its set on a hill so lot and lots of steps to the different room so this is not an accessible hotel if you have any walking difficulties.

The managers here were super friendly, my flight with Wizz Air arrived mega early! and check in didn't start until 12pm but they allowed me to check in at 10am!. I really wished I had stayed here for longer, this was a great choice of hotel if you want to be close to Mykonos Town but not right in the centre plus an amazing pool, balcony views and lovely breakfast.

Casa di Pietra This is a brand new and well designed complex of just 11 rooms, I stayed here in June and it was a great hotel but, only if you are willing to hire a car or bike for the trip. Its quite an isolated hotel just set off one of the main roads, you can walk to Mykonos Town but its around 45 minutes and weather conditions permitting on the side of a busy non paved road! So I would factor transport costs into staying here, it would be a great place if you hired a car for a few days to really explore the island.

not much of a vibe here, no bar, no music, just road traffic noise all day!

Just 0.9 miles from the famous beaches of Ornos and Agios Ioannis, the traditionally built Sea View Apartments features a pool and hot tub. It offers accommodation with free Wi-Fi and furnished balcony overlooking the Aegean Sea.

“The room was stunning and comfortable and the staff was extremely kind and helpful. The driver was always available.”

This hotel is beautiful, its set on the side of a hill looking over the bay in the idly village of Ornos with links to Mykonos town and various beaches. Ornos is a great location if you want lots tavernas and the ability to access Mykonos Town or the famous beaches in the South, Ornos itself has a lovely bay and beach.
