What Should Travellers Expect from Jet2's New Base at London Luton Airport in Summer 2025?
Jet2 has officially announced London Luton Airport (LLA) as its newest UK base for summer 2025, offering expanded flight options to popular European holiday destinations. Starting April 1, 2025, Jet2 will launch flights to 17 holiday destinations from LLA, with exclusive routes to Girona, Verona, and Madeira. The new operations will include up to 36 flights weekly, covering destinations across the Canary and Balearic Islands, mainland Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, and Italy.
The expansion also brings significant local investment, creating over 125 new jobs at the airport in roles such as pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and ground operations. Alberto Martin, CEO of London Luton Airport, welcomed the addition, highlighting the economic boost and added travel options for millions of passengers. He called Jet2’s arrival “fantastic news” for the region and emphasized the alignment with Luton Airport’s goals of expanding its route offerings.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2 and Jet2holidays,
this expansion further supports Jet2’s mission to become the leading leisure travel provider in the UK. This announcement follows similar expansions in the south, with recent Jet2 bases added in Bristol and Bournemouth.

In mid-2024, the airline maintained average punctuality rates between 82.4% and 85.4%!
Figures that exceed the industry average and outpace many UK competitors by several percentage points. This level of reliability is notable given Jet2's large network, which includes more than 350 daily flights at peak times, making it a leading choice among travelers looking for fewer delays and dependable schedules.
However if you are delayed......
did you know you may be able to claim up to £520 in flight delay compensation if your flight is delayed by more than 3 hours?
Here's everything you need to know to ensure you're prepared and can claim what you're entitled to.
FLIGHT DELAY 3 POINT ACTION PLAN
1. Take Receipts
As soon as you see a delay:
Document Everything: Take screenshots of the departure board and note the times—every minute counts!
Expenses: Keep receipts for any expenses at the airport and scan them into your phone.
Communication: Note what the airline staff say about the delay, including who you spoke to and when. Airlines often cite "extraordinary circumstances" to avoid compensating, so detailed records are essential.
2. Be Prepared
Always be ready for things to go wrong:
Snacks: Pack extra snacks to keep hunger at bay.
Medications: Ensure you have extra medication if needed.
For Kids: Bring additional activities, blankets, charged power banks, and nappies if traveling with children.
3. Know Your Rights
According to EU regulation 261/2004, if your flight is delayed by over 3 hours, cancelled, overbooked, or if you're denied boarding, you may be entitled to compensation. This regulation applies to flights departing from or arriving in EU countries, as well as some others like Turkey.
